*Leevisa is alive and the following is a conceptual press statement

Leevisa was a single child born in Gyeongnam and died* at the age of 30. She spent half of her life in Gunpo, Gyeonggi-do, and the other half in Seoul. After experiencing many hardships, she found peace in Jongno-gu, a place she found refuge.

Loved by her parents, she grew up in a small town — in the midst of urban redevelopment. With beautiful mountains and fields, the landscape was split by apartments and thatched houses across a road. There, she would start ballet, professionally at the age of 4. With sharp eyes, she rehearsed her dream to take over the world. Dancing allowed her to express confidence and thought. By the age of 13, she abandoned her practice, to stop her mother from having to sell all of their fortune.

While living an active life and having to grow up quickly — things didn't work out the way she thought:

Peace as thought,
Body as thought,
Education as thought,
Friendship as thought,
Dream as thought,
Society as thought,
Love as thought.

She learned good things are short-lived, on the contrary; her pain and wounds feeling more permanent.

While leaving behind her passion for dance, she acquired a new love for books, films, music, fashion, and art — attending art college to study design. Unfortunately, she spent a lot of time alone with a lack of mentorship and guidance from peers.

Leevisa loved people with the purity of her heart, but didn’t know how to express her emotions. It became impossible to convey her sincerity. In many situations her expectations were unmet.

Despite her hardships, she lived life to the fullest. Leevisa loved to travel, always making connections with those who passed by. She once said: "Life is too short, so let's be happy and do everything we want," an idea she lived by. Leevisa is remembered by her friends and family.

경남 출생의 외동딸 리비자는 30세의 나이로 생을 마감했다. 삶의 절반은 경기도 군포에서, 나머지 절반은 서울에서 보냈으며 30세가 되던 해, 거세었던 고난의 시간을 거쳐 종로구 모처에 애정 하는 자신의 공간을 마련했다.

대로 하나를 사이에 두고 아파트와 초가집으로 이분되는 도시 재개발이 한창이던 시절, 산과 들이 아름다웠던 작은 동네에서 춤으로--4살의 나이부터 전문적으로 발레를 배우기 시작했다--세상을 전복하려는 꿈을 가지고 날카로운 눈을 연습하던 아이였다. 부모님의 사랑을 많이 받았고 춤을 추어 무대에 자주 오르던 탓에 어디서나 당당했고 명쾌하게 생각을 표현했다. 전 재산을 팔아 춤을 출 수는 없다고 생각한 13세의 다음 해에, 발레를 그만두었다.

빠르게 성장하며 적극적으로 삶을 살아 나갔고 하나둘씩 마음처럼 되지 않는 일들이 발생하기 시작했다. 생각처럼의 평화와, 생각처럼의 몸과, 생각처럼의 진학과, 생각처럼의 우정과, 생각처럼의 꿈과, 생각처럼의 사회와, 생각처럼의 사랑이, 선한 것들은 명이 짧고 상처와 고통의 시간은 길다는 학습을 하게 되었다.

무용을 그만둔 이후에도 책과 영화, 음악, 패션, 예술을 무척 사랑하여 결국 예술대학에 진학하고 디자인을 공부했다. 많은 시간을 혼자 보냈고 안타깝게도 주변에 좋은 어른이 많이 없었다.

사람들을 진심으로 사랑했지만 정확히 사랑하는 법을 몰라 서투른 탓에 진심을 전하는 것이 불가능에 수렴했다. 그러한 이유로, 원하던 것과는 다른 결말을 맞이해야 하는 경우들이 상당했다. 주어진 삶과 스쳐가는 사람들을 위해 노력했고 도전과 실패를 반복했다.

언제나 어디에도 속하지 못했고, 여행했다. 우리에게 주어진 삶이 너무 짧으니 행복하자고 하고 싶은 것을 다 해내자고 입버릇처럼 말했고, 그 말이 현실이 되었다. 슬프지 않을 것이고 가족과 친구, 사람들의 기억 속에 오래도록 사랑하고 도전하는 사람으로 남을 것이다.

Her compositions are diversified outside the context of club culture, and described as a Lost in translation moment, trainwrecking head first into an after hours rave. Her recent contributions span from: an exclusive mix for Apple music, a remix for PZWorld Book (Published by IDEA), composing music for Kimmy.j FW19 runway and breaking into the world of film as a music composer.

Bridging the world of music & fashion, as one of the rising female musicians of Seoul's underground scene via i-D magazine and DJing/modelling for notably rising fashion brand Hyein Seo. Leevisa has toured throughout the world playing for Unsound, CTM, Elsewhere, HKCR, NTS Radio, and performs frequently at Seoul’s renown club Cakehop and Seoul Community Radio.
